Lajares, Fuerteventura - village information
   
Lajares is within 10 minutes of Corralejo (a bustling seaside resort) and 5 minutes reach of the beautiful fishing village and famous Lagoon beaches of El Cotillo.
As well as an impressive football ground, the town has a newly built stadium for ‘lucha canaria’ a popular form of wrestling throughout the Canary Islands.
One of the main attractions is the local lace shop where you can watch local women apply the traditional skills of making lace and embroidery. It’s great place to buy traditional gifts and artefacts.
There are a handful of very good restaurants offering traditional Canarian food as well as Italian and a more contemporary international menus.
It is reported that many, many years ago, Lajares formed the coastline beach, hence the large amount of golden sand.
Amongst its facilities, Lajares has: Historic church, Junior school, Shops, Bars/Restaurants, Chemist, Plaza with children’s playground, Football Ground, regular Buses to Corralejo and El Cotillo...
