La Oliva, Fuerteventura - village information

La Oliva, once the political capital of the island, is superbly situated in the north of Fuerteventura. The island airport is within 35mins by car, Puerto del Rosario (the island capital) is within 25 mins, Corralejo (a bustling seaside resort) is within 10 mins reach, as is the beautiful fishing village and beaches of El Cotillo.
La Oliva is a charming Canarian village with all the amenities for a tranquil family life, or a place to relax away from the hussle and bustle of busy resorts, but in the knowledge that they are all close enough to enjoy as well.
Amongst its facilities, La Oliva has: Ayuntamiento (local council), historic church, Colonels House, Nursery, Junior and Secondary schools, Bank and cash-points, Shops, Bars/Restaurants, Chemist, Hairdressers, Post Office, Local Sports Centre (including swimming pool and gym), Plaza with children’s playground, Football Ground, Doctors, buses to Corralejo, Puerto del Rosario and El Cotillo...
“La Oliva is great for families and retired folk; more or less everything for day-to-day living is here and within walking distance if necessary. Also, the villagers are friendly and embrace new people settling here. It’s a very pretty village, it’s home!” (Claire Hollingsworth - wife, mother and resident for over 20 years.)
